What battery fits a Generac 22kW generator?
“22 kW” alone is not enough to identify a replacement battery. Generac’s own support page lists a Group 30L AGM Powersports battery with 400 CCA for its Next Generation air-cooled generators. Generac model G0070430’s product page lists Group 26R with at least 540 CCA or Group 35 AGM with 650 CCA for that specific unit. These specifications apply to different equipment families; neither is a universal answer for every 22kW unit.
How do I verify the replacement?
Read the generator’s model and serial number from its nameplate, then use the matching Generac specification or owner’s manual. Confirm the battery group, chemistry, minimum CCA and physical terminal arrangement in that exact document. If the document is missing or the unit has been modified, ask Generac support or an authorized dealer before installing a battery.
