Eveready’s company history dates its AA-size battery announcement to 1907. AA describes a standard cell size, not one chemistry or a single invention by a specific researcher in 1950. Alkaline chemistry came later: Energizer’s company history dates Eveready’s development of the first commercially viable cylindrical alkaline batteries to 1959.
Did batteries exist in 1923?
Yes. Batteries were already in use for more than a century by 1923, and the AA size had been announced in 1907. The year 1923 is not the invention date of batteries or AA cells.
